Subproject B

Methods

Sub-project B focusses on an examination of the applicability and effectiveness of a novel tablet computer based system, which is going to be developed to improve orthographic writing performance. The effectiveness of this new system is going to be examined through a study on elementary school children with writing difficulties. They are expected to autonomously use the tablet computer several times a week to practice their writing performance. Clear and prompt feedback concerning the correctness of their handwritten words aims to avoid inaccurate representations. In this way the error sensitivity is thought to be effectively amplified to improve writing performance.

Study data are evaluated using standardised reading and spellings tests as well as an electroencephalogram (EEG).
